Two days ago, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala completed its first term in office. One of the highlights of its accomplishments has been the policy towards migrants workers. While there is a global attack on immigrants, in Kerala the Left has decided to push for more rights for mights - including health insurance. The picture above is from the 2013 Gezi Park protests in Turkey. I have used it because hours after the referendum in Turkey, people who voted No (Hayir) had already begun to compare the mood of resistance to the days of Gezi. I like the picture because it echoes the great Delacroix painting of 'Liberty Leading the People'.

Dear Friends,

The referendum in Colombia on the peace deal failed by a very narrow margin. My report - derivative of the mood in the country - appeared yesterday in The Hindu. The takeaway is in the last paragraph,
